Building A People’s Plan for Glasgow - Learning from Cities for Change
The People's Plan for Glasgow is a collaboration of groups, organisations, campaigns and individuals to co-create an alternative plan for people and the city. It is a humanifesto which rejects the market based, corporate perspective that has failed to offer many citizens wellbeing in any form. The plan will build on the amazing work many groups are already doing in areas like housing, migrant justice, transport, planning, equality for all, sustainability, health and economy. The aim is to hold conversations in communities all over the city, in all sorts of forums. By the end of this year we'll have a strong alternative platform and ideas for a revitalised local democracy to carry it through.
This event is organised by the SANE (Solidarity Against Neoliberal Extremism) Collective, an organisation from Glasgow. The Sane Collective is working to build a social movement of social movements, creating spaces and opportunities for all those who want to transform our city of Glasgow for the many. We support new forms of activism, radical municipalism, collaboration and participation. Central to how we work are principles of solidarity, inclusion, the feminisation of politics and "power with not power over".
Cities for Change brings together radical municipal movements from across Europe. This working meeting is part of the Amsterdam conference happening now. We'll have 3 guest speakers (TBC) from movements working for radical change. They'll talk about how they tried to include as many voices as possible in their plans. We can ask them questions - sharing and learning from their experiences.
