Cities for Change
#CitiesForChange Change the world, start with the city!
Introducing Transformative Cities: Reclaiming Basic Rights and the Atlas of Utopias
Around the world, cities and citizens are finding local solutions to solve global problems.
In Jackson, Mississippi a strategy has been developing to fight inequality, while transforming local housing and foodsystems, making them more inclusive and affordable;
In Solapur, women workers set up Asia’s largest housing cooperative, providing houses for thousands of people and preventing homelessness;
In Lagos, Nigeria ‘Our Water Our Right’ campaign effectively mobilized against water privatization;
In Valladolid, Spain energy cooperatives are challenging energy poverty and supplying clean energy to thousands of people.
These solutions inspire global action – they illustrate another world is not only possible, it’s already happening!
Who are these changemakers around the world, why is it important that their stories are told, and what can we learn from them?
Together we will talk about the reason behind the collective effort of creating the Transformative Cities Initiative and the mapping of the Atlas of Utopias – a global gallery of transformative change led by people power.
