Cities for Change

If we are serious about tackling climate change, we need to keep the vested interests of the fossil fuel industry as far from our public decision makers as possible, like we did to the tobacco lobby. This is as relevant at the UN level as it is in the EU, at national level or at city level. In Amsterdam local community groups are fighting back to cut the interests of the fossil fuel industry out of politics and society.

On June 1st we are organising a panel discussion with local artists and campaigners to hear about their different campaigns against fossil fuel industry influence, as well as explore how they can be part of a wider push for fossil free politics in Amsterdam and elsewhere.

The event is organised by Corporate Europe Observatory, a founding member of Fossil Free Politics campaign, and will bring local members including Fossil Free Culture and Fossil Free Advertising, who have both had amazing successes in tackling fossil fuel industry influence and finding political solutions. We will also hear from the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty on building networks across cities.
